Tips For Feeling — And Being — Healthier This Winter

Feeling Healthier – Autumn may have just begun, but winter is around the corner and will be upon us before you know it. As the weather turns cold and days get shorter, we tend to become especially aware of how horrible we are feeling. Well, here are some tips to think about as winter approaches.

Dry eyes? Eat more seafood like salmon and trout. These omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods can help the body to produce more tears.

Stressed out? Soak in a bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil. Its fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma is soothing and refreshing.

Chest congestion? Drink ginger! Try ginger ale or this home remedy recipe: Pour two cups of boiling water over a one inch piece of peeled, grated ginger. Steep for 10 minutes and strain. Add a pinch or two of cayenne or red pepper to the water, allow it to cool a bit and drink!

Have a sweet tooth? Eat bitter food instead. Olives and cooked greens help to rid you of your sugar craving.

Want to stay heart healthy? Eat potassium. People who eat high potassium diets tend to be less prone to high blood pressure, which can help to keep the heart healthy. Eat foods such as bananas, cantaloupe and oranges.

Dry skin? Add avocado to your diet; they are high in vitamin E which helps promote healthy skin.

Cold feet? Sprinkle some cayenne pepper in your socks. It helps by increasing circulation.
